Hello and welcome to the Wake Forest Elementary School Library Media Center.
I am Mrs. Lim, Teacher Librarian, and this will be my eleventh year at Wake Forest Elementary. Please stop by to visit the Wake Forest Elementary School Media Center!
When will my child go to the Media Center?
The Media Center will operate on a Fixed/Flexible Schedule for the 2018-2019 school year. Kindergarten through 3rd grade will visit the Media Center once per week on the same day and at the same time each week for curriculum-based lessons. This will be the Fixed part of our schedule. The Flexible Access portion of our schedule allows, and encourages, students and teachers to access the Media Center for collaborative, authentic learning experiences whenever the need arises. Also, each class in 4th grade will visit the Media Center once a week to exchange library books. Fifth grade students are lucky to be directly across from the Media Center and can exchange books any time that fits with their class schedule. As always, the Media Center is open from 8:45-3:30 for any student, teacher or parent who is need of a library book. Each class in grades K-5 will have Orientation during the first week of school. We will be explaining how to use Destiny, the online catalog, and we will use this time to familiarize the students with Media Center operations and expectations; book care; and choosing a "just right" book.
How many books can my child check out?
Kindergarten may check out 1 book and keep it for one week
1st grade students may borrow 2 books for two weeks
2nd and 3rd grade students may borrow 3 books for two weeks
4th and 5th grade students may borrow 4 books for two weeks
At any time, the student can return his/her books and borrow a new book.
Parents and siblings are welcome to borrow books from our Media Center.
Just stop by the Circulation Desk and ask for the details!
Volunteering in the Media Center
Volunteers are always welcome in the Media Center. Activities include helping with student checkout; shelving books; and helping with the processing of books. Please stop by and ask for more information in the Media Center. Please submit your name and availability and I will contact you about volunteering in the Wake Forest Elementary School Media Center.
